Best Bookcraft of the Year 2009

Every spring the Danish Museum of Art & Design provides the context for the exhibition of the Best Bookcraft of the Year, showing exceptional design from among the books produced in the previous year, selected in various categories: art books, children’s books, bookbinding, etc.
From among the selected works the Best Book of the Year is chosen, on the basis of an exceptional quality of interplay between the aesthetic and the functional. The publisher receives the Danish Book Design Award.
At the same time the results are presented of a design competition held by the Royal Library and the Association for Bookcraft. Design students have been invited to design a non-fiction work: a collection of letters to and from Kamma Rahbek, edited by Kirsten Dreyer. The winning proposal will receive a prize of 10,000 DKK and will be used for publication.
