Easter at the museum

Designmuseum Danmark is the perfect destination this Easter. Throughout the Easter holidays, you can design fabric flowers made from recycled textiles, go on the fun Easter egg hunt in the Museum Garden and enjoy free, guided tours through the exhibitions. And when you need a break, Café FORMAT is ready with delicious sweet treats and refreshing drinks.

Best of all, children under 18 can explore the museum for free! So why not make this Easter one to remember with a day of hands-on creativity, fun, and learning at Designmuseum Danmark?

  • Thursday April 17 (Maundy Thursday) from 10-20
  • Friday April 18 (Good Friday) from 10-18
  • Sunday April 20  (Easter Sunday) from 10-18
  • Monday April 21 (Easter Monday) from 10-18

FAMILY WORKSHOP: FLOWERS 

This Easter, children and families can design their own colourful fabric flowers using recycled textiles from Textilia (formerly De Forenede Dampvaskerier). Participants can create up to three flowers each and take home a beautiful fabric bouquet. There will also be opportunities to make other everyday designs, such as a small quilted pouch or a pencil case.

EASTER EGGS IN THE MUSEUM GARDEN

Families can hunt for Easter eggs in the Museum Garden. Pick up a map at the entrance and mark the locations of the hidden eggs as you find them. If you discover all the eggs, you can claim a small chocolate egg as a prize in the museum shop.

LAST CHANCE: A JOURNEY TO JAPAN

The critically acclaimed exhibition In Love & War offers an in-depth look at one of the Edo period’s most distinctive art forms, which served as visual propaganda, particularly in the depiction of dramatic, nationalist war scenes and the idealized portrayal of the lives of prostitutes. The exhibition closes on April 21.

LAST CHANCE: DESIGN SOLUTIONS FOR THE FUTURE

April marks the final opportunity to experience the exhibitions Heartspace: Designing a healing hospital and AKUT #6: Fabric of Change. These two exhibitions explore how design and design thinking can make a real difference for children, young people, and pregnant women in hospital care, as well as being a catalyst for a more sustainable fashion industry.

At the museum café Format, there’s something to suit every taste and appetite. The café offers both breakfast and lunch, alongside a wide range of freshly baked goods, including a new addition to the cake selection: A carrot-flavoured cake to celebrate the arrival of spring.
