For more than 25 years, acclaimed Danish designer and artist Henrik Vibskov has shaped and developed his own distinctive and captivating universe, where music, scenography, costumes, installations and fashion constantly intersect and inspire one another in surprising and exploratory ways. From 18 September, Vibskov takes over Designmuseum Danmark in central Copenhagen with his largest exhibition to date, taking visitors on an eventful journey through the designer\u2019s universe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When Henrik Vibskov creates his fashion collections and large-scale installations, he draws inspiration from cultural, social and political issues \u2013 but also from the most familiar aspects of everyday life: how we sleep, wash in the morning or do the dishes. In Vibskov\u2019s hands, the familiar is transformed in surprising ways and re-emerges in the designer\u2019s distinctive, playful universe, which always invites new perspectives and experiences.<\/p>\n

From fashion highlights to large-scale installations<\/strong>
\nWith Henrik Vibskov: The Exhibition<\/em>, visitors can look forward to an immersive exhibition featuring a wealth of different works and visual worlds \u2013 from 44 display cases containing objects, prototypes and works from Vibskov\u2019s studio and highlights from his fashion collections over the years to large-scale art installations that visitors can move through. The major exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark offers a unique insight into how Vibskov\u2019s approach to play, improvisation and collaboration creates space for an endless flow of creativity, and how his various projects intersect across time and themes. The exhibition is a journey into a branching, wildly growing universe \u2013 mysterious, humorous, surprising and moving.<\/p>\n

A colourful preview
\n<\/strong>The first work from the exhibition has already taken up residence in the museum\u2019s green garden. Henrik Vibskov created the installation The Umbrico Spiral<\/em> especially for the museum\u2019s programme during the 3daysofdesign festival in June. Standing almost nine metres tall, the installation features red and white double spirals that turn in the wind. It now rises in the middle of the museum garden as a colourful, playful monument heralding the upcoming exhibition. Inside the museum, too, visitors can get a taste of the major exhibition in the month leading up to the opening, with a selection of works on display.<\/p>\n

Largest museum exhibition
\n<\/strong>Henrik Vibskov has exhibited at numerous museums around the world, but the exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark is his largest solo exhibition to date. Henrik Vibskov: The Exhibition<\/em> presents a selection of highlights from 25 years of the designer\u2019s projects, alongside a wide range of objects, models and other material that has never previously been exhibited.<\/p>\n

About Henrik Vibskov
\n<\/strong>Henrik Vibskov works at the intersection of art and design. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2001, he has created more than 50 fashion collections and exhibited at international design fairs, festivals and museums around the world, including MoMA in New York and Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Alongside his work in the studio, he is a professor at Design School Kolding and regularly serves on juries and gives lectures at institutions including Central Saint Martins in London and Parsons School of Design in New York. In addition to his biannual fashion collections, he has designed costumes for numerous operas and performing arts productions. Most recently, he created the costumes for Alexander Ekman\u2019s ballet Hammer<\/em> at G\u00f6teborgsOperan in Sweden. Throughout his career, Henrik Vibskov has received numerous awards, including the Torsten and Wanja S\u00f6derberg Prize, the Thorvald Bindesb\u00f8ll Medal and the Crown Prince Couple\u2019s Culture Prize. In 2025, he was awarded a lifelong honorary grant by the Danish Arts Foundation. Vibskov is also active as a drummer and has performed with, among others, Hess Is More, Mikael Simpson and Trentem\u00f8ller.<\/p>\n
