Acclaimed Danish designer and artist Henrik Vibskov has spent more than 25 years creating and evolving his own distinctive and captivating universe, where music, scenography, costumes, installations and fashion continually intersect and inspire one another in surprising and exploratory ways. This September, Vibskov takes over Designmuseum Danmark in the heart of Copenhagen with a major immersive exhibition that invites visitors on a sensory journey through the designer’s creative world.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first work in the museum’s major autumn exhibition has already arrived in the museum’s green garden. Henrik Vibskov created The Umbrico Spiral<\/em> especially for the museum’s programme during the 3daysofdesign festival in June. Standing almost nine metres tall, the installation features red and white double spirals that rotate in the wind. Positioned at the heart of the museum garden, it serves as a vibrant and playful landmark heralding the forthcoming exhibition.<\/p>\n

When HENRIK VIBSKOV<\/em> opens on 18 September, visitors can look forward to an exhibition featuring a wealth of different works and experiences \u2013 from tiny models of installations and 44 display cases with objects, prototypes and works from Vibskov\u2019s studio to large-scale installations that visitors can move through. Visitors will also have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of one of the works themselves. The exhibition shows how Vibskov\u2019s approach to play, improvisation and collaboration creates space for an endless stream of creativity. It is a journey into a branching, wildly growing universe \u2013 mysterious, humorous, surprising and moving. A universe where mistakes are gold, and beauty emerges amid chaos.<\/p>\n

About Henrik Vibskov<\/strong>
\nHenrik Vibskov works at the intersection of art and design. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2001, he has created more than 50 fashion collections and exhibited at international design fairs, festivals and museums around the world, including MoMA in New York and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Alongside his studio practice, he is Professor at Design School Kolding and serves on juries and lectures at institutions including Central Saint Martins in London and Parsons School of Design in New York. In addition to his biannual fashion collections, Vibskov has designed costumes for numerous operas and performing arts productions. Most recently, he created the costumes for Hammer<\/em>, Alexander Ekman’s ballet at G\u00f6teborg Opera in Sweden. Throughout his career, Henrik Vibskov has received numerous awards, including the Torsten and Wanja S\u00f6derberg Prize, the Thorvald Bindesb\u00f8ll Medal and the Danish Royal Couple’s Culture Prize. In 2025, he was awarded the Danish Arts Foundation’s lifelong honorary grant. As a musician, Vibskov is an active drummer and has performed with artists including Hess Is More, Mikael Simpson and Trentem\u00f8ller.<\/p>\n
