WELCOME TO DESIGNMUSEUM DANMARK<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Step inside the design memory of Denmark. At Designmuseum Danmark, located <\/strong>in the middle of Copenhagen\u2019s historic center, <\/strong>you will encounter the proud Danish design tradition in the museum\u2019s extensive collection of Danish and international design icons, as well as groundbreaking exhibitions on the design of the future. The museum offers a string of exhibitions, ranging from the Victorian homes and collection manias of the past to contemporary designers and trends, dealing with the global issues of tomorrow.
\n<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>In June 2022 Designmuseum Danmark reopened after a comprehensive renovation of the interior of the historic buildings and all exhibition and guest areas. Now visitors can experience a total of eight new exhibitions that cover the entire spectrum of design, from the wonders of the past and the great icons of modernism to the significant themes of today.<\/p>\n

Copenhagen\u2019s finest rococo building
\n<\/strong>Since 1926, Designmuseum Danmark has been housed in one of Copenhagen\u2019s finest rococo buildings, the former Royal Frederik\u2019s Hospital. The building was constructed during the reign of King Frederik V in the years 1752-57 based on drawings by the architects Nicolai Eigtved and Lauritz de Thurah. In the 1920s, the buildings were renovated and adapted to museum use by the architects Ivar Bentsen and Kaare Klint (1888-1954). Klint furnished the entire museum and designed its entire inventory in the late 1920s. Known as the grand old man of Danish furniture design, he has a decisive influence on Danish design. Kaare Klint lived and worked at the museum and also served as a teacher for several of the best-known Danish architects and designers of the 20th century.<\/span><\/p>\n

A green oasis in the heart of Copenhagen
\n<\/strong>Like a green oasis in the city, the museum garden is located at the very center of the museum. It is open to the public during the museum\u2019s opening hours \u2013 no admission ticket necessary. The garden forms the setting for exhibitions, events, and the museum caf\u00e9 has outdoor seating here. The museum garden is a peaceful, secluded haven removed from the noise of the city, offering a break in the open.<\/span><\/p>\n
