Following another record-breaking year, Designmuseum Danmark will once again extend its opening hours throughout the summer season. In 2025, the museum welcomed more than 350,000 exhibition visitors, with particularly high attendance during the summer months from both Danish and international guests.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In response to the growing interest, Designmuseum Danmark will remain open seven days a week throughout July and August 2026, including Mondays, when the museum is traditionally closed.<\/p>\n

From Monday 6 July until Monday 31 August, visitors will be able to explore the museum every day of the week and experience exhibitions spanning Danish and international design history, from iconic works of craftsmanship and modern design classics to contemporary voices and experimental design practices shaping the future.<\/p>\n

The decision follows another exceptionally busy summer at the museum, where exhibitions, the caf\u00e9, garden and historic buildings attracted large numbers of visitors. By introducing an additional weekly opening day, the museum hopes to create more space and a calmer, more enjoyable experience during the busiest periods of the year.<\/p>\n

Museum Director Anne-Louise Sommer says: \u201cWe are delighted by the great interest in the museum and at the same time want to ensure the best possible experience for our guests \u2014 even during the busiest summer weeks. Last year, we experienced several days of exceptionally high visitor numbers, so it feels natural once again to keep the museum open on Mondays throughout the summer. We hope the additional opening hours will create more room in the exhibitions and allow visitors to enjoy the collection, the architecture, the garden and the atmosphere of the museum at a more relaxed pace.\u201d<\/p>\n

In recent years, Designmuseum Danmark has experienced steadily rising visitor numbers and growing international interest in Danish design, craft and architecture. Each year, guests from around the world visit the museum on Bredgade to discover both classic design narratives and new exhibitions exploring contemporary design, material culture and artistic experimentation.<\/p>\n
