The Carlsberg label was designed by Thorvald Bindesbøll in 1904 to mark the brewery’s appointment as Purveyor to The Royal Danish Court that year. The florid, organic lettering was inspired by the hop plant and reflects the contemporary design focus on flora and fauna. It represents the Danish Skønvirke movement of which Bindesbøll was the main exponent.
