Omvisning: En introduktion til museet og dets udstillinger

Gennem 12 udvalgte stop vil museets guide tage gruppen igennem museets udstillinger. Omvisningen er tiltænkt som en forsmag på museets store og alsidige samlinger, og introducere udstillingerne: HJERTERUM: DET HELENDE HOSPITALS DESIGN, AKUT #6: FABRIC OF CHANGE, KOPPEN OG KERAMIKEREN, DANISH MODERN, I KRIG OG KÆRLIGHED, WONDER, MØNSTERKRAFT, BORD, DÆK DIG!, DANSK SØLV og IN THE MAKING.
Omvisning: Design på bordet
Varighed:1 time
En kold tid kræver hygge med varme drikke i de helt perfekte kopper! Hvilken kop foretrækker du? Og hvilke tanker gør en formgiver sig om den perfekte kop – eller tallerken, ske eller gaffel? I denne omvisning dykker vi ned i formgivernes og servicets historie. Vi begynder i udstillingen KOPPEN OG KERAMIKEREN, hvor vi går med nutidens dygtige keramikerne på værkstedet, og vi ser på museets fine samling af gamle kopper. Dernæst går turen videre rundt i huset, og ender i udstillingen BORD, DÆK DIG! med opdækninger helt tilbage fra renæssancen frem til i dag.
Omvisning: DANISH MODERN

Dansk design er kendt og elsket – både herhjemme og i udlandet, men hvad førte frem til succesen, hvilke designs er centrale, og hvem er de store danske designere i det 20. århundrede? Udstillingen DANISH MODERN udfolder historien om dansk design fra 1920’erne og frem til år 2000 med fokus på nogle af de mest ikoniske danske designs. Omvisningen giver gennem udvalgte stop og genstande et blik ind i denne gyldne epoke for dansk design.
Omvisning: I KRIG OG KÆRLIGHED
Varighed: 1 time
Gå med på en omvisning i udstillingen I KRIG OG KÆRLIGHED, der viser nøje udvalgte japanske træsnit fra museets store samling af japansk kunsthåndværk. Sammen kommer vi helt tæt på modige krigere og smukke kvinder, som befolker de stemningsfulde billeder. Omvisningen starter i udstillingen og fortsætter ud i museets andre rum, som også gemmer på enestående japansk kunsthåndværk og design.
Omvisning: WONDER
Varighed: 1 time
I udstillingen WONDER sættes der fokus på samlere og samlinger. At samlinger både kan være vidunderlige og være årsag til forundring. Og det faktum at vi har, eller har haft, en samler gemt i os. Gennem fem udstillingsrum fortælles fem forskellige historier om samlinger og de samlere som en gang imellem stadig kan anes bag samlingerne. Omvisningen sætter fokus på museets grundlæggelse i 1890 og giver mulighed for at komme tæt på samlingshistorie og museets aller ældste genstande.
Omvisning: MØNSTERKRAFT
Varighed: 1 time
Den bærende historie i udstillingen MØNSTERKRAFT er mønstre, som de udfolder sig på tekstiler, både stoffer til beklædning og tilbehør, samt de flade tekstiler, stofbaner og mindre prøver. Alle tekstilmønstre er valgt på tværs af tider, steder og kulturer – og alle er de fra Designmuseets samlinger. Udstillingens univers er skabt i samarbejde med kunstner, modedesigner og musiker Henrik Vibskov. Omvisningen giver mulighed for fordybelse i mønstrenes kunstformer og sammensætninger.
Omvisning: BORD, DÆK DIG!
Varighed: 1 time
Udstillingen BORD, DÆK DIG! viser genstande fra borddækningens historie fra renæssancen til i dag, udstillet på syv originale borde. Vi dykker ned i detaljer og historier om kunsthåndværk, designprocesser, skik og brug, mens vi ser på de over 200 genstande i sølv, guld, glas, porcelæn og træ.
Arranger en omvisning med af museets inspektører
Varighed: 1 time
Museets udstillinger er skabt af museumsinspektører, som i samarbejde med udstillingsdesignere har sat scenen for genstandene og deres fortællinger. En omvisning med en inspektør giver mulighed for at dykke dybere ned i udstillingens fagområde og samtidig komme endnu tættere på de valg og fravalg som en udstilling repræsenterer.

Guided tour: An introduction to the museum

Through 12 selected stops, the museum guide will guide you through seven of the museum’s eight exhibitions. The tour is intended as a preview of the museum’s large and diverse collections and introduce the exhibitions: HEARTSPACE: DESIGNING A HEALING HOSPITAL, THE CUP AND THE CERAMIST, DANISH MODERN, IN LOVE & WAR, WONDER, POWERFUL PATTERNS, LITTLE TABLE, COVER THYSELF!, DANISH SILVER and IN THE MAKING.
Guided tour: Design on the Table
Duration: 1 hour
As the cold season settles in, nothing feels better than a warm drink in the perfect cup. But what defines the perfect cup? And what considerations does a designer make when crafting not only a cup, but also plates, spoons, or forks? Our journey begins in the exhibition THE CUP AND THE CERAMIST, where we delve into the creative processes of contemporary ceramicists and admire the museum’s exceptional collection of antique cups. We then continue through the museum, culminating in TABLE, SET YOURSELF!, an exhibition that spans centuries of table settings from the Renaissance to the present.

Danish design is known and loved – both at home and abroad, but what led to its success, which designs are central and who are the great Danish designers of the 20th century? The exhibition DANISH MODERN unfolds the story of Danish design from the 1920s to the year 2000, focusing on some of the most iconic Danish designs. Through selected stops and objects, the tour offers a glimpse into this golden era of Danish design.
Guided tour: IN LOVE AND WAR
Duration: 1 hour
Join us for a guided tour of the exhibition IN LOVE AND WAR showcasing carefully selected Japanese woodcuts from the museum’s extensive collection of Japanese craftsmanship. Together, we will get up close to brave warriors and beautiful women who populate the evocative images. The tour begins in the exhibition and continues into the museum’s other rooms, which also hold unique Japanese craftsmanship and design.
Guided tour: WONDER
Duration: 1 hour
The exhibition WONDER focuses on collectors and collections. That collections can be both wonderful and a source of wonder. And the fact that we have, or have had, a collector hidden inside us. Through five exhibition rooms, five different stories are told about collections and the collectors who can still be glimpsed behind the collections. The tour focuses on the founding of the museum in 1890 and offers an opportunity to get close to the history of collecting and the very oldest objects in the museum.
Guided tour: POWERFUL PATTERNS
Duration: 1 hour
The main story of the exhibition POWERFUL PATTERNS is patterns as they unfold on textiles, both fabrics for clothing and accessories, as well as the flat textiles, fabric panels and smaller samples. All textile patterns are chosen across time, place, and cultures – and all are from the Design Museum’s collections. The exhibition’s universe has been created in collaboration with artist, fashion designer and musician Henrik Vibskov. The tour offers the opportunity to delve into the art forms and compositions of the patterns.
Guided tour: LITTLE TABLE, COVER THYSELF!
Duration: 1 hour
The exhibition LITTLE TABLE, COVER THYSELF! shows objects from the history of table setting from the Renaissance to the present day, displayed on 7 original tables. We delve into the details and stories of craftsmanship, design processes, customs, and usage as we look at over 200 objects in silver, gold, glass, porcelain, and wood.

The museum’s exhibitions has been created by museum’s curators who in collaboration with the exhibition designers sets the scene for the objects and their stories. A guided tour with a curator allows you to delve even deeper into the subject matter of the exhibition, while getting even closer to the choices and exclusions that an exhibition represents.
