The design museum Is Open Every Day Throughout the Summer

In 2024, Designmuseum Danmark set a new attendance record with more than 350,000 exhibition visitors. The high number of guests—many of whom visited during the summer months—has now led the museum to add an extra weekly opening day in July, August, and September.

Like many other Danish museums, Designmuseum Danmark is traditionally closed on Mondays, but this summer, the museum will also open its doors on the first day of the week, inviting design enthusiasts inside to explore the design of the past, present, and future. The change in opening hours is a direct response to last year’s surge in both Danish and international visitors. Museum Director Anne-Louise Sommer explains:

“It is a top priority for us to ensure that our guests have the best possible museum experience when visiting our listed buildings. Last year, we reached maximum capacity on several days and had to temporarily stop ticket sales — by now opening the museum on Mondays during the busy summer months, we hope the extended hours will help ease the pressure in the exhibitions — to everyone’s benefit.”

July, August, September
The first Monday with special opening hours is Monday, July 7. The extended opening schedule runs through Monday, September 29.

Summer Opening Hours (July 7 – September 29)
