DESIGNMUSEUM DENMARK'S DIRECTOR JOINS THE BOARD OF NEW CARLSBERG FOUNDATION

Museum Director Anne-Louise Sommer has recently joined the board of New Carlsberg Foundation. As a board member, she will contribute to the foundation’s work in strengthening the role of art in society and ensuring the foundation’s continued development in the years to come.

NEW WORK BY LISE VESTER LIGHTS UP THE MUSEUM

The Danish designer Lise Vester has created a sculptural chandelier inspired by the lighthouse, which, with its distinctive light, sparks curiosity and invites reflection. In the coming period, museum visitors can experience the artwork Lighthouse and its magical, playful light in the museum’s library lounge, which is free to visit.

VERONICA HODGES CREATES ARTWORK WITH THE MUSEUM’S VISITORS

The artist Veronica Hodges is known for her installation works, inspired by nature and its inherent ever-changing nature. At present, she is working on a new collective piece at the Designmuseum, focused on societal transformation – created in collaboration with the museum’s visitors.

THE DESIGN MUSEUM PARTICIPATES IN PRESTIGIOUS EXHIBITION COLLABORATION

Parts of Designmuseum Danmark’s rich collections can be experienced right now at the Dutch design museum Den Bosch’s new, large exhibition Trans Europa Design Express – a journey through five design collections. The design museum is among five leading European museums that have been selected and invited to show highlights from their respective collections in the exhibition.

NEW POP-UP EXHIBITION ABOUT FUTURE DREAMS

How should the fashion industry, designers and consumers act to meet the planet? And how can we enhance our imagination to promote a future where fashion and responsibility go hand in hand? A new pop-up exhibition under the title ‘Fashion Dreaming’ examines how we can design with respect for both the planet and future generations.

RECORD-BREAKING VISITOR NUMBERS

In 2024, an exceptionally high number of visitors passed through the turnstiles at the Designmuseum Danmark in Bredgade, Copenhagen. The museum, which has seen increasing visitor numbers since its major reopening in 2022, will close 2024 with the highest attendance ever recorded.
