Funds Working together as partners
Designmuseum Danmark is now recognised as the “design consciousness” for all of Denmark. That is largely due to ongoing support from funds, visionary corporations, and private donors. We thank everyone who supports us and allows us to continue to create a lively centre of knowledge, collections and an educational environment for design targeted at a large and growing audience.
We see funds as close partners in which tailor-made processes create value for both partners. Funds help us make sure that we can continue to live up to our vision. And our goal is that everyone continues to enjoy a committed partnership and the opportunity to be a visible part of our lively location and platform.
110,000 new tiles keep the museum's roof safe
The A.P. Møller Foundation
Complete restoration of the Designmuseum Danmark’s historic roof helps keep the museum’s collection safe and emphasises the museum building’s exceptional architecture. “If you don’t have a roof, you don’t have a museum” – that’s how elementary the challenge was for the museum in the years up to the extensive roof renovation, which was made possible by The A.P. Møller Foundation. The roof of all four wings of the iconic building constructed in the 1700s was in terrible shape, but with the fund’s contribution 7.000 m2 roof was totally replaced with 110,000 new hand-glazed wing tiles.
Design workshop for accessible learning
Villum Foundation
The Villum Foundation made it possible to construct the Design Workshop for the museum’s design school. The free-standing building has quirky zinc architecture and a critically-praised interior for learning. The building is the setting for the Designmuseum’s educational programmes, family workshops, and other activities.
Security and improved storage
C.L. Davids Foundation and Collection
The Fund has a long relationship with the Designmuseum and has supported many of our projects, from renovation of the building to the introduction of digital chips in the Designmuseum’s library. Recently it has supported several security projects that have improved the museum’s security and storage abilities.
The Danish Chair
Augustinus Fonden
In 2015-6, the fund was the main sponsor for our exhibit Dansk Design Nu. The exhibit is a large collection of Danish design in the 21st century, including posters, objects, and interviews that cast a light over the complex developments within the past 15 years of design in Denmark. From the new generation’s breakthrough around 2000 to the contemporary diversity of designers, trends and styles.
The exhibit would have been impossible without the fund’s generous contribution. Read more about the exhibit.
