MUSEUM

100 YEARS OF VERNER PANTON

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Verner Panton’s birth, Designmuseum Danmark celebrates one of the most uncompromising figures in Danish design history. Throughout 2026, visitors are invited into Panton’s colorful universe, where the boundaries between art, furniture, and architecture are blurred.

As a visionary in Danish design, Verner Panton fundamentally rethought the relationship between people, space, form and colour. With uncompromising curiosity and a rare willingness to experiment, he challenged the ideals of modernism and expanded the language of design. His works were not merely objects, but experiences that, through new materials and organic forms, appealed to the senses and invited movement, play, and contemplation.

EXPERIENCE THE ICONS UP CLOSE

Right now, visitors can experience and try out the sculptural seating piece Living Tower in the entrance area of the museum café FORMAT, along with a preview of DR’s (Danish Broadcasting Corporation’s) new documentary Verner Panton – En dansk verdensstjerne (read: A Danish World Star), offering insight into the designer’s international significance.

The exhibition of selected Verner Panton pieces can be seen at Designmuseum Danmark all throughout 2026. As part of the celebration, particular attention will be given to his works during the design festival 3daysofdesign.

Additionally, you can explore Panton’s iconic color universe in the permanent exhibition Danish Modern. Read more here.
