FORMAT café
In the heart of Designmuseum Danmark, visitors will find the café FORMAT, a relaxed museum café where design and food come together. Iconic Danish furniture pieces set the scene, with views over the museum’s peaceful, protected garden.
FORMAT is open to the public and does not require museum admission. It serves as a natural stop for both museum visitors and passers-by looking for coffee, lunch, or something sweet in calm surroundings.
A simple approach to food
The kitchen is run by Astrid Dalgaard Mølgaard and Jeppe Graa. Their approach is straightforward: good ingredients, simply prepared.
The menu changes with the seasons and is based on organic Danish produce, complemented by international inspiration. The focus is on quality rather than complexity, allowing flavour and ingredients to take centre stage.
“We are grateful for nature and for what happens when people come together around a meal,” the concessionaires say.
For annual pass holders
Annual pass holders receive a 10% discount on all food and beverages in the café, as well as a special offer on filter coffee or tea served with the cake of the day.

LILLE FORMAT
Located at the museum’s entrance, Lille Format is the café’s outward-facing little sister—a relaxed meeting place between the museum and the city. With its doors open to both museum visitors and passers-by, it’s the perfect spot to stop for a great cup of coffee to go, a freshly baked croissant, or a slice of the day’s homemade cake.
Take a moment to enjoy the sunshine outside the museum, or grab your coffee and continue along Bredgade. Lille Format is a natural extension of the museum experience, inviting you to bring a taste of Designmuseum Danmark with you into the city.
