ANOTHER RECORD-BREAKING
YEAR FOR DESIGNMUSEUM DANMARK

For the second year running, Designmuseum Danmark has recorded the highest visitor numbers in its 130-year history. With over 350,000 exhibition guests in 2025, the museum cements its status as one of the country’s premier cultural destinations.

Designmuseum Danmark continues its growth. New figures show that 353,742 guests visited the museum’s exhibitions in 2025, which is a slight increase on the previous record set in 2024, when 348,093 visitors experienced the museum in Bredgade. When including visitors to the museum garden, library, shop, and café, the total footfall for the entire house reached a remarkable 493,228 guests in 2025.

CAREFUL OPTIMISATION AND EXTENDED OPENING HOURS

The influx of guests, particularly during the summer period, has placed high demands on the historic, listed buildings. To ensure a high-quality experience with room for immersion, the museum worked purposefully to optimise the visitor environment. Initiatives included opening on Mondays for three months during the peak season, which helped spread attendance across the week and alleviate pressure during peak hours.

A CULTURAL MAGNET FOR OVER 130 YEARS

For more than a century, Designmuseum Danmark has communicated the story of Danish and international design and craftsmanship. The record-breaking figures of recent years testify to a growing interest in design history, crafts, and the creative design solutions of the future.

In 2026, guests can look forward to six new special exhibitions ranging from an inside look at the design “engine room” of Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen and relational design experiences in Belongings, to Japanese woodblock prints by Hokusai, iconic Japanese poster art in Japan Modern Poster, a poetic textile landscape by Nikoline Liv Andersen, and a major solo exhibition by Henrik Vibskov.

The museum wishes to thank both the Danish and international public for their support throughout 2025.
