Museum shop
Design history you can take home
For us, a museum shop is not just a stop on the way out – it is an integral part of the story told at Designmuseum Danmark. Here, you will find a carefully curated selection that draws directly on our archives and current exhibitions, offering a tactile introduction to Danish design even before you step into the galleries.
The shop brings together the best of Scandinavian design, featuring handpicked items that represent both iconic classics and a new generation of craftspeople and designers.
Created with care
Good design should also be made with a clear conscience. At Designmuseum Danmark, old exhibition posters are transformed into unique notebooks and handcrafted paper angels. We work closely with local artists and producers in Denmark and across Europe.
Posters and design history for your bookcase
At the entrance to the shop, you will find a selection of posters printed locally and designed by the museum’s own graphic designers as well as external artists. The book selection features titles you rarely encounter in the city’s other bookshops, offering a carefully edited journey through Danish design history – from major furniture classics and architecture to the finer details of ceramics, silver, and textiles.
Textiles connected to the collection
The shop sells a wide range of textile prints and presents work by Danish textile printers and designers. Here, uncompromising craftsmanship is celebrated, allowing materials and patterns to take centre stage. The selection includes works by leading textile printers and weavers such as Lisbet Friis, Janne Wendt, and Anne Mette Larsen, alongside designs by Henrik Vibskov and Mads Nørgaard’s unmistakable ‘101’ knitwear.
From icons to innovative everyday objects
Extending the museum’s narrative of Danish design – and Danish Modern – the shop presents objects that have shaped our shared understanding of the good home. This is where timeless pitchers and watches from Georg Jensen meet Kay Bojesen’s playful wooden figures, the indispensable Margrethe bowls, and the infectious optimism of the Hoptimist.
Craft with a signature
The ceramics in the shop bear witness to a vibrant contemporary craft scene, featuring makers such as Birgitte Munck, Lars Rank, and Pia Baastrup. Glass art follows suit with works by four distinctive local glassblowers: Anne Flohr, BLÆS, Marie Retpen, and Bettina Schori. Their collections range from the functional to the purely sculptural.
