Designmuseum Danmark Is Open Every Day Throughout the Summer

After welcoming more than 350.000 exhibition visitors in 2025 – another record-breaking year – Designmuseum Danmark is once again extending its opening hours for the summer season.

Responding to continued strong interest from both Danish and international visitors, particularly during the peak summer months, the museum will be open seven days a week throughout July and August, including Mondays, when it is normally closed.

From Monday, 6 July through Monday, 31 August 2026, visitors can explore Designmuseum Danmark every day of the week. The extended opening schedule is intended to provide more space and a more relaxed museum experience during the busiest period of the year, following another summer of exceptionally high attendance across the museum’s exhibitions, café, garden and historic buildings.

Guests can discover the museum’s exhibitions on Danish and international design, ranging from historic design icons and decorative arts to contemporary experimental practices and visions for the future of design.

Museum Director Anne-Louise Sommer says:

“We are delighted by the tremendous interest in the museum and are committed to providing the best possible experience for all our visitors – even during the busiest weeks of the summer. Last year, we experienced exceptionally busy days, making it a natural decision to open on Mondays once again throughout the season. We hope these additional opening hours will create more room in the galleries and allow visitors to enjoy not only the exhibitions, but also the museum’s architecture, garden and unique atmosphere at a more leisurely pace.”

In recent years, Designmuseum Danmark has experienced increasing visitor numbers and growing international interest in Danish design, craft and architecture. Each year, the museum welcomes guests from around the world to its home on Bredgade, where they can experience both iconic design stories and new exhibitions exploring contemporary design and material culture.
