Designmuseum Danmark's Christmas table: Stine Leth
November 18 - December 30
A tradition is born: Designmuseum Danmark presents the fourth annual Christmas table.
A tradition is taking shape at Designmuseum Danmark: for the fourth year in a row, the museum invites visitors to experience its annual Christmas table each year by a new designer. This year, the artist in question is the Danish knit-artist, Stine Leth (b. 1979), known for transforming yarn into sculptural, tactile works.
Stine Leth has a background from Aarhus Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture, but is self-taught in her material. She works in the cross-field between art, design, and handicraft, where knitting is transformed into sculptures, wall objects, and three-dimensional paintings. Her works balance playfully between the monumental and the naive, where knitting becomes organic shapes, color explosions, and compositions that invite both reflection and joy.
Visitors can find Leth’s joyful interpretation in the space between the museum’s entrance hall and café: a small burst of colour and imagination timed for the holiday season.
CHRISTMAS TABLE 2024: HELLE MARDAHL
Each year, Designmuseum Danmark presents a festive Christmas table set by a different designer. Last year, the table was set by glass artist and designer Helle Mardahl. Known for her hand-blown glass pieces in organic forms, Mardahl’s unique design universe evokes the whimsical charm of a candy store.
CHRISTMAS TABLE 2023: ALBERTINE BRASK
Embroidered Christmas lights, patchwork paper cones, knitted snowmen, and much more from artist Albertine Brask have covered the Christmas table at the Designmuseum.
From the table shone adventurous colors and materials, which created a unique Christmas atmosphere. Albertine Brask’s artworks bring life to any Christmas tree and inspiration to decorations that anyone can create from fabric residues and other materials found at home.
CHRISTMAS TABLE 2022: HELLE HØGSBRO KRAG
After the opening of the Designmuseum in 2022, the first Christmas table was designed by Helle Høgsbro Krag, who, with her characteristic sense of colors, humour, and quality, made her own impression on the museum during Christmas.
Helle Høgsbro Krag is known for her creative window decorations at the former vintage store, Holly Golightly, her personal brand ‘Crème de la Crème à la Helle’ and much more.
