Henrik Vibskov: The exhibition
The Danish designer and artist Henrik Vibskov has spent more than 25 years shaping and developing his own distinctive and captivating universe, in which music, scenography, costumes, installations and fashion intersect and inspire one another in surprising ways. This September, Vibskov takes over Designmuseum Danmark with a major, immersive exhibition that invites visitors on an experience-rich journey through the designer’s universe.
Henrik Vibskov’s distinctive way of working is at the heart of this major, visionary and immersive special exhibition. Discover a wealth of different works and experiences – from miniature models of installations to 44 display cases containing objects, prototypes and works from Vibskov’s studio, as well as large-scale installations that visitors can move through. The exhibition reveals how Vibskov’s approach to play, improvisation and collaboration creates space for an endless flow of creativity. It is a journey into a sprawling, ever-branching universe – mysterious, humorous, surprising and moving. A universe where mistakes are gold, and beauty emerges from chaos.
ABOUT HENRIK VIBSKOV
Henrik Vibskov works at the intersection of art and design. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2001, he has created more than 50 fashion collections and exhibited at international design fairs, festivals and museums around the world, including MoMA in New York and Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Alongside his work in the studio, he is a professor at Design School Kolding, serves on juries and gives lectures at institutions including Central Saint Martins in London and Parsons School of Design in New York. In addition to his biannual fashion collections, he has designed costumes for a wide range of operas and performing arts productions. Most recently, he created the costumes for the ballet *Hammer* by Alexander Ekman at GöteborgsOperan in Sweden.
Throughout his career, Henrik Vibskov has received numerous awards, including the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize, the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal and the Crown Prince Couple’s Culture Prize. In 2025, he received the lifelong honorary grant from the Danish Arts Foundation. As a musician, Henrik Vibskov is an active drummer. He has performed with Hess Is More, Mikael Simpson and Trentemøller.
