NEW POP-UP EXHIBITION: FASHION DREAMING

How should the fashion industry, designers and consumers act to meet the planet? A new pop-up exhibition under the title 'Fashion Dreaming' examines how we can design with respect for both the planet and future generations.

We are facing one of the greatest shifts in human history, preparing for entirely new ways of living. It’s time to change our perspective—from human-centered to planet-centered. We need to understand that the world can no longer be viewed solely from the human perspective, but in relation to the many species and forms of life, with which we share the planet.

The pop-up exhibition Fashion Dreaming, which can now be experienced at the museum, takes the audience into an imagined future, where you meet six retired fashion designers who look back at what the fashion industry achieved in their time. They made choices that put the planet – not themselves – at the center of their decisions. In this way, they succeeded in creating a fundamental transformation that redefined the fashion industry’s responsibility and contribution to the future of the planet.

100 personal visions
The retired designers’ stories are the result of a series of workshops where students, professional fashion designers and actors from the fashion industry in Denmark and Argentina shared dreams and visions for the future of fashion. Using ‘speculative design methods’, participants created over 100 personal visions that challenge and expand our understanding of what fashion is and can be. These insights were then processed by AI, which condensed them into the narratives presented here – as visions of a future that can shape the present.

The exhibition is part of a project at Designmuseum Denmark about future dreams.

Fashion Dreaming can be experienced in the space adjacent to the museum café until and including 28 April.
