EASTER AT DESIGNMUSEUM DANMARK

Critically acclaimed exhibitions, embroidered Easter letters, and sweet treats in the newly renovated café.

Forget the frayed paper cut-outs that usually define March. This year, Designmuseum Danmark is giving the traditional “gækkebrev” (Easter letter) a fresh twist using the rhythmic Japanese sashiko embroidery technique. Visit our Easter workshop, where scissors are swapped for needles, and children and adults alike can learn a new craft (complete with the obligatory dots).

Combine the creative workshop with a guided tour about Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Egg chair, or explore all four of our new exhibitions: Japan Modern Poster, Japanese Woodcuts: Hokusai, Laboratorium: Foersom and Hiort-Lorenzen, and Belongings: Affection as a Design Strategy.

When hunger strikes, the café is ready with brunch, lunch, sweet treats, and hot and cold drinks, while the museum shop has curated the finest Easter-yellow design favourites for the front display.

Please note: Admission is free for everyone under 18.

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Let the hunt begin

Designmuseum Danmark once again invites you to an Easter egg hunt in the museum garden. That familiar anticipation, small shoes darting between the bushes, and the adults pretending they’re not scanning for the very first egg themselves.

In the entrance hall, you’ll be handed a map, and then the hunt is on. Eggs are hidden throughout the garden, and along the way, you’ll trace your own path on the map. When (not if) all the eggs have been found, a prize awaits: a small chocolate egg, ready to be collected in the entrance hall before you continue into the museum.

Date and time: Easter Sunday, April 5, 10:00–18:00.

FOUR ACCLAIMED EXHIBITIONS

Immerse yourself in the major spring exhibition Japan Modern Poster, highlighting Japanese graphic design, and experience the museum’s rarely displayed woodcuts by the master Katsushika Hokusai. Don’t miss the extensive process exhibition Laboratorium: Foersom and Hiort-Lorenzen, or the thought-provoking Belongings: Affection as a Design Strategy.
