Give old socks, T-shirts, and other textiles a new life when Designmuseum Denmark invites children and families to a summer workshop in the green museum garden.

In the children’s workshop, we dive into the Japanese shibori technique, where fabric is folded, bound, and dyed in deep indigo blue to create vivid and surprising patterns. Together, we experiment with rubber bands, clips, and clothespins, discovering how even an ordinary sock can be transformed with patterns, colors, and imagination.

The workshop is specifically designed for children and their adults, with age-appropriate guidance, smaller groups, and ample time for immersion and creative experimentation. You will take the techniques and craftsmanship home with you, so you can continue exploring shibori on your own. Of course, the dyed socks and T-shirts can also be taken home.

Children can work with materials provided by the museum or bring their own textiles in need of a new look and a new chapter. Textilia has donated sample materials.
