CPH:DOX: TRACING LIGHT
Thursday, March 27, from 5 PM to 7.35 PM
Designmuseum Danmark presents a thought-provoking and cinematic journey through the mysteries of light in collaboration with CPH:DOX.
Tracing Light explores the most fascinating natural phenomenon of them all: light. Art and science unite in a quest to make the indescribable more tangible and to open a space for mystery, magic, and sensuality.
As Albert Einstein once said, the greatest thing we can experience as humans is mystery – and these mysteries are at the heart of both art and science. Based on this premise, Tracing Light embarks on an alternative journey through the fascinating and essential nature of light. From the birth of stars and the secrets of molecules to sunrises, sunsets, reflections, artificial light, black holes, laser light foosball, and, of course, the light necessary for both film production and all life. Alongside scientists, physicists, artists, and nature itself, the film follows the trail of light, creating thought-provoking artworks that attempt to make light’s indescribable nature more tangible to our senses. From the desolate landscapes of Scotland and England to an institute in Germany and a marble quarry in Italy, Tracing Light unfolds into a visual experience of rare caliber.
Also look forward to a special discussion after the film, where light experts Louise Grønlund from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (KADK) and Anders Thorseth from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) will share their insights and knowledge.
