Culture Night at Designmuseum Danmark
Friday, October 11, 6 p.m. to midnight
Visit Designmuseum Danmark at this year’s Culture Night. Among other things, you can experience eight current exhibitions, including new and popular ones such as DANISH MODERN and IRMA – A DESIGN STORY. Throughout the evening, the museum’s guides will present the exhibitions and the history of design. Culture Night also offers a creative Panton workshop in the Design Workshop, a concert in the museum garden, a quiz in the Banquet Hall, and much more.
Create your own Panton mobile in the Design Workshop
In the Design Workshop, children and families can express their creativity, inspired by the vibrant design universe of the famous designer Verner Panton, and create a mobile. With expert guidance from the museum’s educators, you can draw and cut various shapes that are then assembled into a floating mobile, which you are, of course, welcome to take home. The workshop is aimed at children and their adults. The studio opens at 6 p.m. and stops accepting new visitors at 10 p.m.
Please note that the workshop has limited capacity, and there may be a waiting time.
For even more fun, young at heart guests can explore the museum garden with a flashlight and discover more of Panton’s shapes.
Concert in the museum garden and light art on the forecourt
At 10 p.m., there will be a concert with the Danish singer and songwriter Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen, known by the stage name Goss. On this evening, the critically acclaimed artist will be joined by a cellist and a guitarist for a performance in the museum garden.
All evening, there will be light art on the forecourt. The art group Tokyo Blue has created the interactive light artwork Pantonius for the occasion, which combines Verner Panton’s colorful design universe with the children’s game Antonius. Here, guests can participate in creating their own light works and project them from wall to wall.
Pop-up exhibitions in the design library and quiz in the Banquet Hall
In the museum’s library, you can explore several pop-up exhibitions on the tables in honor of Culture Night. The theme of the displays is DANISH MODERN, and for this evening, there is a special focus on the selection of Verner Panton books.
In the museum’s beautiful Banquet Hall, there will be two design quizzes during Culture Night, where you can win great prizes from the museum shop. The first quiz focuses on classic chairs from the chair tunnel in the DANISH MODERN exhibition, while the second quiz tests your knowledge of Verner Panton.
Food and drinks at FORMAT
If you get hungry or thirsty, the museum café FORMAT will serve Chili con Carne and Chili sin Carne from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 125 DKK for adults and young people, and 85 DKK for children (ages 0-12). After 10 p.m., snacks will be available to accompany your drinks. At Lille Format on the forecourt, you can buy coffee, tea, and hot chocolate from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
