Culture Night 2023
Culture Night at Designmuseum Danmark
ONE EVENING – 10 EXHIBITIONS
You can look forward to the Culture Night at Designmuseum Danmark, where you can explore the museum’s 10 current exhibitions – including the newly opened exhibition PROUD, featuring modern folk costumes designed by Nicholas Nybro – and try your hand at embroidery and Japanese dyeing techniques in creative workshops. With a Culture Pass you get free access to it all.
CREATE YOUR OWN EMBROIDERY
In the museum’s beautiful Banquet Hall, we open the doors to a world of embroidery. Under the expert guidance of the skilled artisans from I Tråd Med Verden, you can design and create your own embroidery, which you can take home afterwards. Through embroidery, we delve into craft and design as storytellers by drawing inspiration for the motifs from our own experiences, identities and belonging. The workshop is created in collaboration with I Tråd Med Verden, a social economy company that runs sewing and design workshops in vulnerable residential areas.
The workshop is for both adults and children from approx. 10 years and up regardless of experience. The workshop opens at 18 and closes for new visitors at 22.
Please note that the workshop has limited capacity and that there may be a wait.
TRY OUT SHIBORI – A TRADITIONAL JAPANESE TECHNIQUE FOR MAKING PATTERNS
In the design workshop, we invite you to explore the universe of patterns. Here you can try out Shibori – a traditional Japanese technique where patterns can be made on textiles through folding and dyeing. We experiment with rubber bands, clips and clothespins and work on recycled textiles. You will create your own pattern, which you can take home. The workshop is suitable for families, and everyone is welcome. The workshop opens at 18 and closes for new visitors at 22.
Please note that the workshop has limited capacity and that there may be a wait.

This evening in the museum café you can enjoy a delicious Chili con Carne or Chili sin Carne with a glass of house wine/small draft beer or an Østerberg soft drink for DKK 150.
The small café on the museum’s forecourt, LILLE FORMAT, offers a cup of La Cabra filter coffee and banana bread for DKK 50 on the Culture Night.
