Come join us as we experiment with elastics, clips, and clothespins, and give socks a whole new expression in the green garden of Designmuseum Danmark.

In this summer workshop, we dive into the Japanese shibori technique: a sensuous and almost meditative way to give new life to an old t-shirt or a few dull, white socks. Through binding, folding, and coloring, the fabric’s surface turns into living, organic patterns in a deep indigo blue.

The technique is not about hiding your mistakes, but about embracing them when stains, wear, and usage become a part of the expression. The participants can work with materials from the museum or bring their own textiles to give them new life.

The practice materials are donated by Textilia.
